The Importance of Customer Service!
Today I write from a position of frustration and utter annoyance. I have spent most of my day on the phone to Telstra trying to get internet connected at my house, with little resolve. The customer service and helpfulness of Telstra is atrocious. However, it made me stop and think about my own business. At Leddys and associates we pride ourselves on building strong long lasting relationships. We endeavour to go the extra mile and strive to offer the best accounting and business advisory services.
I believe customer service should be at the heart of any successful business. There are a number of tips, which seem obvious but are often overlooked.
- Always under promise and over deliver
- Know your limits: don’t give your customers an answer they want to hear, if you can’t deliver the goods.
- Build a trusting relationship with your clients
- Communicate: If you are having difficulties or need extra time, call your client.
- Return phone calls in a timely manner
- Be on time and last but not least:
- Be courteous, kind and respectful.
In the end, we are all in business for the same reason, to provide for our families and to keep a roof over our heads. Money will never bring you happiness, however it can help facilitate time; to focus on what is important. After all no one comes to the end of their life and asks for more money, they always want more time.
